Theme – Just Do It

Just do the thing, whatever it is. This is not a call to recklessly and carelessly bulldoze your way through life. But no matter the thing, no matter how you plan and gauge, sooner or later it comes time to Just Do It. I saw that this eeek in purchasing things. I’ve had a long list for a long time. I was pacing and managing. Things were moving…but ever so slowly. It became time to shit or get off the pit. I needed those things and a lot of boxes have been checked off on my to-do list because of them.

Lesson – There's a Rule to Every Exception

We've all heard the phrase, "There's an exception to every rule." And, this does seem to hold true. I have yet to encounter a rule that hasn't had at least one exception. Likewise, I have found that every exception has its rules - there are protocols, procedures, standards. I’m not sure what the Lesson of this Observation is, but we’ll run with it.

Observation – Old Habits Die Hard

It’s true. We know it’s true. We just can’t seem to accept that it’s true. We cheat on a diet, having our favorite treat, and we put ourselves through guilt and beratement. We repeat old patterns and behaviors and tell ourselves we can’t change. But it’s natural. It happens. It’s to be expected. Why do you think AA has a sponsor system? You just have to recognize the old habit, accept it, then go back to changing it. No harm. No foul.

The Post

 ^Deep sigh^

It has been a day.

It has been a week. This is not a bad thing. Quite the opposite actually.

I cannot really recall my last set of days off. They are very much Once Upon Ago. I know they happened and I know I did stuff. Cause, well...here I am...and stuff is done.

My work week was intense. It was...driven. [Pun not intended...well...not at first, anyway.]

Last week, I made my income budget - but for $2. That gave me hope for consistency. I haven't really made the Goal since I set it. I haven't let that get to me. I just set out each week looking to conquer it at last.

Last week I hit it pretty hard. This week was a little different. I hit Friday and Saturday real good, including the deficit from Thursday. Thursday was a bit more of a struggle. Thursday's usually are. It's hard to get in the groove after 3 days off. But this Thursday brought extra. The Mayor had an appointment at 1300 and that really twisted my routine.

I went out a lil earlier and I had a very strong start to the day. Then it started to wind down. [It happens at that time every day.] Then it was time to shuttle the Mayor. Then I just no longer felt like it. This left me with a big gap at the end of the day.

But like I said, I pushed hard on Friday and Saturday. By this morning, I had closed the gap down to about $40. I pushed hard. I moved all day from 8-3. Then things slowed down...AND got aggravating. The offers became much less appealing - smaller amounts, tougher drives, more effort. I turned down 3 in a row because I had just gotten back from a 2 order hour round trip. I was really not up for strenuous , unsatisfying work.

All in all, I ended about $30 shy. Normally I would not be OK with that; However, I made $60 cash this week which was not calculated into the income budget. So...technically, I ended $30 over. [Nothing is as it Seems.]

Not only did I technically finish over and above, but I closed some financial gaps along the way.

As I mentioned last week, I have spread cash throughout my system and it is all balanced at the moment. In fact, this week cash will go to the Special Fund and the Box, and $20 will go to laundry. [and that will set that right.]

I also splurged on things. All things I needed in order to finish or improve upon on going projects and Goals. I have been pacing myself for a while now. But, I can't see the growth I want without the tools and materials to make it happen. So it was time.

At the same time, I have manged to continue to grow my Cash App. I don't recall what I said the balance was at last week but this week it closes at $140. This after draining down to zero just within the last few weeks. Plus my cash accounts are growing. Plus there is money in the account to carry me through without much thought.

I am not trying to brag. I am not being proud. I am pleased. I am satisfied. I do feel accomplished and that's OK. It has been a 30 year struggle to get things right where they are.

and to think...

I couldn't have gotten them where they are if I weren't crippled.
